The U.S. Summer Work and Travel program is a cultural exchange program designed by The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) of the U.S. Department of State [act CFR 62.32]. This program has been successfully operating in Europe, Asia and other countries for over 30 years.
Each year thousands of student participants gain entry to the U.S. through this program working eight to sixteen weeks. The J-1 Visa provides the international candidates countless opportunities to travel and gain experience in the United States. With the propulsion of education industrialization in China, the number of university graduates hits a new record every year. For example, there are 6,990,000 university graduates in 2013. Facing such a severe situation, how do individuals promote their comprehensive qualities and broaden their horizons in order to lay a good foundation for their career along with globalization, which has been a task every student has to undertake.
Through SWT, students with J-1 visa may work with other students from different countries and travel for a maximum of four months in America, during their summer vacations, which allows students to taste American culture, boost their English, acquaint the operation of American cooperation as well as elevate their perspectives and work experiences with lower cost.
